How: Stravinsky loved honey. But not just any type, for it had to be royal jelly honey. Fearing that the establishment may not stock his favourite type, Stravinsky carried jars of royal jelly honey with him!
Did you know: Stravinsky hit crisis point in 1962, when, on a visit to Tel Aviv, he ran out of royal jelly honey. When someone managed to bring him a jar to prevent a catastrophe, Stravinsky rejoiced, ‘This’ll bring back my youth.’

This piece was Stravinsky’s response to encountering jazz for the first time, and it was written for the great pianist Arthur Rubinstein. A highly demanding piece, it is nonetheless full of fun, and may well capture the skittish, frantic last-minute Christmas shop you’re about to set off on!
