BBC Proms today: it's Florence and The Machine!

What's on at the BBC Proms today?

Today's Prom is Prom 69, and it's a pretty exciting one. It features the legendary indie rock band Florence and The Machine, who will perform their breakthrough debut album, 2009's indie / Baroque pop masterpiece Lungs, in full.

Who is performing at the BBC Proms today?

Tonight's star performers are, obviously, Florence and The Machine - lead singer Florence Welch, keyboardist Isabella Summers, guitarist Rob Ackroyd, drummer Christopher Lloyd Hayden & harpist Tom Monger. They'll be joined tonight by the London Contemporary Voices choir, and the Jules Buckley Orchestra conducted by the eponymous Jules Buckley.

What is Lungs like?

Released in 2009, Lungs won praise from critics and huge legions of fans alike, with its unique blend of art pop, indie rock and soul. It spawned six hit singles, including 'Dog Days Are Over', 'Rabbit Heart (Raise It Up)', and 'You've Got the Love'. The album's emotional lyrics delved into love and loss, and images from both nature and mythology featured strongly. The album won a BRIT Award and a Mercury Prize nomination, and propelled Florence and The Machine onto the global stage.

What time is Florence and The Machine at the BBC Proms today?

Prom 69, Symphony of Lungs, starts at 8pm.

Will the Florence and The Machine Prom be on TV?

Yes! Prom 69 will be broadcast live on BBC Radio 3, but will also be recorded for broadcast on BBC Two later this autumn. It will also be on BBC iPlayer.

And how much are tickets?

Tickets are priced between £26 and £80. There will also be Day Promming tickets be available from 10.30am this morning, Wednesday 11 September. These cannot be bought in person, but are only available to buy online.
