What's on at the Proms today?

Today's Prom, Prom 15, features the BBC Philharmonic and conductor Nicholas Collon. They'll be peforming the sensuous and exotic Turangalîla-Symphonie by the 20th-century French composer Olivier Messiaen. That work requires two soloists, so tonight the Proms welcome pianist Steven Osborne and Cynthia Millar, who plays that inimitable instrument, the ondes Martenot.

Tonight's other performance is a world premiere of The Gorgeous Nothings by contemporary composer Anna Clyne. A BBC commission, this work for vocal ensemble and orchestra will see the BBC Philharmonic joined by the a capella vocal group The Swingles. Formed in Paris in 1962, The Swingles have been stretching the boundaries of vocal music for more than six decades and have earned themselves five Grammy Awards in the process.

Will today's Prom be on radio and TV?

Yes. Like all of the BBC Proms, tonight's concert will be broadcast on BBC Radio 3. It is also being recorded for broadcast on BBC Four at a later date. Here's a list of all the 2024 Proms on TV, either broadcast on the night or later this year.
