To mark its 40th anniversary, The European Union Youth Orchestra has announced its Capital Sounds tour, an initiative which will see the orchestra perform in the capital cities of all 28 EU countries.
The four-year project, running from summer 2016 until summer 2020, aims to champion the individual cultures of the nations involved.
Each concert will feature the EUYO performing alongside local youth ensembles, as well as a speech from a significant cultural figure of the country. Capital Sounds launches in Bratislava, Slovakia on 7 August 2016.
The EUYO is the only orchestra in Europe that represents young cultural performers at a high level of excellence from all 28 EU Member States. Founded in 1976 by Joy and Lionel Bryer, it serves as a cultural ambassador for the European Union by celebrating unity and diversity.
