Glyndebourne on Tour has unveiled its 2011 season. Puccini’s La bohème, Handel’s Rinaldo and Donizetti’s Don Pasquale will be staged at the opera house before touring Britain from 8 October.
Mariame Clément will make her Glyndebourne directing debut with her production of Don Pasquale from 9 October, while Robert Carsen will present his staging of Rinaldo, which is currently part of the 2011 Glyndebourne Festival.
David McVicar returns with a new cast for La bohème, conducted by Glyndebourne on Tour's music director, Jakub Hrŭša. Puccini's work was was last performed as part of Glyndebourne on Tour in 2000.
Ukrainian baritone Andrei Bondarenko, the winner of the BBC Cardiff Singer of the World Song Prize, makes his Glyndebourne debut in the role of Malatesta in Don Pasquale.
Each production will be performed at Glyndebourne for three weeks before going on to Woking, Milton Keynes, Norwich, Plymouth, Wimbledon and Stoke-on-Trent.
