Building on his lifelong love of choral music, London-based film and theatre composer Ben Morales Frost has composed three brand new carols for release this Christmas. In performances featuring the City of London Choir and conductor Hilary Davan Wetton, the three carols have been recorded and will receive their world-premiere performance at London’s Cadogan Hall on 21 December 2023.
The three carols What Will This New Day Bring, The Stable and Carol of the Manger are released on 30 November, 7 December and 14 December 2023 respectively. Each track will be accompanied by a YouTube performance video and publication of the sheet music.
The three new pieces draw on the traditional yet modern sound-world of John Rutter and his contemporaries, bringing an uplifting new twist to the Christmas repertoire.
Here is a video of the recording of What Will This New Day Bring:
Ben Morales Frost has a long-standing relationship with the City of London Choir, having sung bass with the group for over a decade. His other recent projects include orchestrations for December 2023’s blockbuster Wonka with Timothée Chalamet, Mission Impossible: Dead Reckoning Part 1, Argylle and Luther.

Frost also composed the music for upcoming feature Blue, Beautiful Things, C4 series The Language of Love and the musicals Billy The Kid, Our Man In Hanava, Sin and The Sorcerer’s Apprentice. During the pandemic, he created the Lockdown Orchestra, bringing together musicians from across the globe to continue music-making from their own homes.
All three carols will be performed by the City of London Choir at Cadogan Hall on Thursday 21 December at 7.30pm. For more details, visit the Cadogan Hall website.
