Those of you who were up bright and early may well have heard six brand new Christmas carols performed by the BBC Singers on Radio 3 Breakfast this morning (Tuesday 16 December).
These were the works of the composers shortlisted in Breakfast’s 2014 Christmas Carol Competition, which opened earlier this year.
Budding composers around the nation were invited to set a specially commissioned text by Susan Hill in a carol for SATB choir, either a cappella or with piano accompaniment.
Out of the hundreds of entries, the shortlisted composers are: Jacqueline Burley, Mark Goggins, Ian Hope, Dan Miller, Ralph Warman and Andy Whitfield.
It is now down to you to vote for your favourite. The winning carol will be performed live on the Breakfast show on Tuesday 23 December and played again on Radio 3 on Christmas Day.
