Bruch: Violin Concerto No. 1; Violin Concerto No. 2; Violin Concerto No. 3

Bruch: Violin Concerto No. 1; Violin Concerto No. 2; Violin Concerto No. 3

Although it begins the disc, this is very much an exploration beyond the famous G minor Concerto, including not only the lush Scottish Fantasy, but also the other two tuneful concertos and the lovely large-scale Serenade, which Bruch himself considered as a fourth concerto. Accardo recorded these works 20 years ago, together with the four shorter concerted pieces for violin, and plays them with technical assurance and musical commitment, ably supported by Masur. Highly recommended. Christopher Fifield
