This ongoing series of Bach recitals on historic European organs is developing into a fascinating enterprise. The second volume, recorded in Germany on a 1688 three-manual Schnitzer organ, contains fine, disciplined accounts of the Bach/Vivaldi Concerto in D minor and the Trio Sonata No. 5, and various chorale preludes are shaped with exquisite taste. Only in the final movement of the Toccata, Adagio and Fugue, is Hurford slightly po-faced. Stephen Haylett
